From New Year's Day to MLK weekend and Lunar New Year, January can be a great time for indoor and outdoor activities in Houston. Don’t miss our favorite kid-friendly events and activities in Houston this month.

While January is definitely a more low-key month after the chaos of the holidays, there are still many great events happening. We are really excited about counting down to the New Year at all of these family-friendly New Years' celebrations, checking out these amazing kid-friendly destinations that opened in Houston in 2021, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Children's Museum of Houston, and ringing in the Lunar New Year at The Woodlands Children's Museum

Find more top January fun in our Winter Activities Guide, Winter Bucket List, and our Indoor Fun Guide.

We’re adding more events to our family activity calendar every day, so don’t forget to check it frequently.

While we try to promote safe activities, many events are getting canceled or postponed at the last minute due to the latest COVID surge. We recommend checking with the venue before heading out to any event.
