Here's an offbeat creative experience: Families can explore the Icelandic diva's latest all-app album Biophilia through music, science and dance experiences at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. The NY Hall of Science ran a few of these workshops earlier this year and we heard they were a big hit with kids. Free with admission: $11.

Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel – Williamsburg
This century-old Catholic fest has been hailed as a mini-San Gennaro and features live music, carnival rides and great eats, along with traditional processions of flower-strewn towers. Activities change daily so be sure to check the schedule before you go. Free admission but there are fees for certain activities.

New York Classical Theater: Twelfth Night – Battery Park
For this revival of Shakespeare's comedy, audiences literally follow the plot as the actors roam around Battery Park, performing in Castle Clinton and other locales. This weekend there are preshow family workshops so kids can get in on the action. FREE
