Join Wee The People for a kid-powered workshop celebrating Black identity, Black experience, and unapologetic Black JOY.

Kids will explore the life and work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the world-famous artist whose paintings crowned Black American heroes as kings — musicians, athletes, writers, and revolutionaries.

Kids will then dive into their own art-making with Identity Crowns, a collage activity for all ages designed to elevate our culture, heritage, and hopes for change in the world.

This event takes place at the Athanaeum's January 18th Children's Play Day.
