Cinema Botanica: Movies in the Garden
- see all dates
What a great movie... did you see the plants in it?
Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden screens classic, family-friendly films in the beautiful outdoors of California's Native Garden. For each film, the spotlight is on California's most beloved plants as they play starring roles, cameos and background parts in these famous features.
In films ranging from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial to The Muppet Movie , families can learn about the California plants that share the stage with favorite characters. Guests receive a field guide to the plants that can be seen in the film; during intermission, Garden staff discuss the plants and landscapes seen in the movies.
Attendees can bring their own blankets and portable chairs. Canvas chairs are for sale at the event and there is seating available.
Screening Schedule:
August 2: Homeward Bound, The Incredible Journey (G)
August 9: Rango (PG)
August 16: The Muppet Movie, 1979 (G)
August 23: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (PG)
There is also a special Members Only screening of Flight of the Butterflies (G) on August 30.
