Fun Things To Do With Kids During Fall Break in New Jersey November 9-11
Well, our kids’ teachers (a.k.a., our saviors) are off to the NJEA Convention for a couple of days this week, leaving us with bored children at home. Sure, they could watch TV for 72 straight hours or force you to do glue-y and paint-y crafts, but we’d like to give you a few more options. Try a camp or see a play or head out to the grand opening of an indoor amusement park. But whatever you do, savor the moments—you know, because we only have about ninety more school days off coming up.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
Legos and Robotics Camp or Broadway Kids Camp (Upper Saddle River)
How about spending your days off making Lego creations and robots? Build with the Lego themes Space Police, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Technic, or use the Robotix system to design, invent and construct robotic creations. This is like kid-geek heaven. If Legos don’t float your boat, how about a musical theater camp? Saddle River Vallery’s resident theater program Applause Performing Arts will host a special singin’ and dancin’ two-day camp—no experience necessary. Both camps are Thursday November 10 and Friday, November 11--Full day (9 am to 3 pm) for $85 or half day (9 am to 12 pm) for $45 with optional lunch (until 1 pm, extra $10). Ages 5-12. Call (201) 825-3366 or register at Saddle River Valley Cultural Center.
Crafts and Theater at the Morris Museum (Morristown)
Enjoy a day at the museum with some extra goodies—a musical adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Bickford Theater on Thursday, November 10 at 12:30 and 2:30, $12/ticket. Call the box office at 973-971-3706. You can also participate in two drop-in craft opportunities: Mixed Media Mosaic on Thursday, November 10 from 12pm to 2pm and Decoupage a mini Keepsake box, Friday November 11 from 12pm to 2pm. $3/child plus museum admission

iPlay America Grand Opening (Freehold)
A gigantic indoor amusement park is opening up in New Jersey on 11/11/11 and you just happen to have bored children home from school—could there be a better combination? We’re attending the media preview tomorrow, so we’ll be telling you more about iPlay, but let’s just say that there’s laser tag, mini-bowling, bumper cars, Dizzy Dragons… need we go on? General admission is $20, but you can jack it up with more extras. Call 732) 577-8200 for more information.
