Herstory Day is an intergenerational celebration of women’s history in New York City honoring their contributions, creativity, and resilience. For the fourth annual celebration, a day of activities educates about the role women have played in shaping the game of basketball.

Meet Priscilla Edwards, Associate Head Coach of Providence College women’s basketball team and founder of PE Basketball Skill Training and Development. Learn about her years as a St. Bonaventure Bonnie, where she amassed a career 881 points, 448 rebounds, and 354 assists.

Get hands-on in a multi-station skills workshop that shows visitors how to be a basketball star on and off the court.

Create basketball-themed art projects and explore the exhibition City/Game: Basketball in New York to learn more about the women that have made New York City the place for basketball. A light snack is included.

Skills Workshop:

• Learn how to be a basketball player on and off the court.
• Participate in a mini clinic and get your shooting stance on point.
• Learn how to “dance” like a baller using bball moves.
• Become a sideline reporter! Record yourself interviewing a player post-game.

Art Making Activities:

• Make your own sweatbands/headbands.
• Basketball is poetry – use a word bank to create an original poem about your favorite game.
