New-York Historical Society celebrates its new exhibition, Pets and the City, with a pet-themed night at the movies. The first film about a famous dog named Lassie, this 1943 drama follows a schoolboy (a young Roddy McDowall) in Depression-era Yorkshire whose family is forced to sell his beloved collie to a wealthy Duke. But then Lassie escapes from her kennel to make the long and dangerous trek back to her boy—with an assist from an 11-year old Elizabeth Taylor!
