Layer the Walls, Part II at Brooklyn College

Sat Mar 15, 2025
2:00pm ET
Age: 9+
Price: $10 (plus fees)
Location:
Brooklyn College Leonard and Claire Tow Center for the Performing Arts
In one Lower East Side tenement, forty layers of wallpaper were found clinging to the walls – each piece applied by a new immigrant family. Using puppetry, masks and live action, Layer the Walls tells the incredible stories held within each layer.
Layer the Walls, Part II: Mid-Century (1930-1970)
- A Chinese father swims across the Hudson River to save his family
- A Teen Holocaust survivor finds refuge in NYC
- Puerto Rican cousins become involved with the Young Lords' fight for healthcare justice
The performance runs approximately 70 minutes. Families are invited to a talk back with members of the cast and creative team following the performance, as well as an interactive shadow puppetry demonstration.
