Open House - Day of the Bison
Visitors can explore the Hart Museum at their own pace, on a day that focuses on the bison. Guests can engage in casual chats, view displays, and participate in hands-on activities related to the history of the bison in North America, including why we call them bison rather than buffalo.
The bison is looked at from a natural history perspective, as well as how he appears in some of the art in the house.
And best of all, visitors can see bison in person in Hart Park.
Staff and volunteers are stationed around the house to answer questions, bison related or not, and to talk about the Hart. There is always some kind of craft activity for young guests (and the young-at-heart)!
Primarily living in the Great Plains, bison are not indigenous to Santa Clarita. The original herd of bison living in the park were donated by Walt Disney after he used them in a movie. Today you can still see an entire herd of American Bison in Hart Park.
