Dutch King's Day
LA's Dutch Community dresses up in orange to celebrate the birthday of King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands, in an enchanting Amsterdam-style outdoor celebration.
Dutch King's Day is a national holiday in the Netherlands and is observed by the Dutch around the globe. The largest Orange Party in Southern California is held this year at the POA Gemmrig Park in Long Beach.
This family-friendly outdoor event features typical Dutch street food, from kroketten to patat friet, and 'Hollandse haring' to poffertjes. Guests can indulge in the sweetness of home-baked Dutch cookies and explore the richness of imported delicacies, as well as Indonesian street food, a cherished part of Dutch culinary heritage, featuring satay and lumpia.
Activities include a Dutch style flea-market, photo ops, music and Dutch DJ’s Dance Party; guests of all ages can play traditional Dutch games. The 21+ crowd can unwind at the Heineken beer garden.
Parking is available ($8).
