Good news: Los Angeles is one of the best places to witness a stunning lunar phenomenon called a super blood moon! Bad news: it happens in the wee hours of the night.

The super blood moon is a lunar eclipse (a red appearing "blood moon") that occurs while the full moon is at its closest to earth, ("super moon").

In Los Angeles, the eclipse begins at 1:47am, as the Moon gradually falls under Earth's shadow.  The blood moon phase, when the Moon appears reddish, begins shortly after 4am and lasts about 20 minutes.  The entire event is over at 5:52am.
