IMAX Blue Whales 3D: Return of the Giants
- see all dates
No need to risk seasickness to go whale watching this summer; the California Science Center offers an IMAX whale watching opportunity with a promise of multiple blue whale sightings every time!
The new IMAX film Blue Whales 3D brings the largest creatures on the planet to the largest screen, with 3D bubbles, breaches, and blowholes that make you feel like you're right there in the water.
The film plunges viewers into the mysterious world of the magnificent mammals, following two separate scientific expeditions—off the coast of East Africa and in Mexico’s Gulf of California. Audiences learn about the whales' strong family bonds, their harmonious long-distance communication tactics, and the vital and surprising role these incredible animals play in the health of our oceans as they make a return from the brink of extinction.
This visually enthralling IMAX movie would make a great pairing with any plans to go whale watching in the Southland this summer; it takes viewers below the surface to see everything you can't see from the boat. And the IMAX treatment makes you feel like reaching for a towel on the way out.
Blue Whales 3D: Return of the Giants is narrated by Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings and Star Wars) and runs 45 minutes.
The film plays three times per day; times vary.
