The Los Angeles Astronomical Society leads an evening of astronomy at the Garvey Ranch Observatory, one of the state's few public observatories, every Wednesday night.

The observatory houses an 8 inch refractor telescope that is available for public viewing. 

Depending on the weather, telescopes may be set up on the lawn by members for impromptu star parties.  The public and members are welcome to bring their telescopes to the observatory to participate in a star party or to receive assistance with new telescope equipment and observing techniques. 

Check the weather forecast before heading out, and, as with all recurring events, it's a good idea to double check that the event is running as scheduled this week.
