East Hollywood families are invited to celebrate the start of the New Year at a free festival at the Church of Scientology.

Fun for kids includes a real snow chute, a kids' ice skating rink, and arts and crafts.

Folks of all ages can enjoy food trucks, live musicians, and an artisan market.

The event is pet friendly.

A local artist is creating a 300-foot chalk art message -  "Happy New Year From East Hollywood" - which will be visible from 200 feet up. Guests can participate in this community art project by contributing their art to the drawing.

Parking is available at 4810 Sunset Blvd, or guests can take the Metro Red Line to Vermont/Sunset Station.
