CANCELED: St. Joseph's Day & The Return of the Swallows
UPDATE: St. Joseph’s Day and the Return of the Swallows Celebration has been canceled.
"We regret to inform you that St. Joseph’s Day and the Return of the Swallows Celebration on March 19 has been canceled. The Mission will continue to be open as an outdoor venue providing spaces where healthy visitors can enjoy the outdoors while observing social distancing recommendations."
St. Joseph's Day marks the annual return of the swallows to San Juan Capistrano. The mission's celebration is marked by pageantry, the traditional bell ringing at the sight of the first swallows, and a celebration with musical performances, crafts, living history characters, and plenty of food.
A guest lecturer shares information about the swallows and their history at the mission.
Note that the celebration at the mission is not the same day as the Swallows' Day Parade this year.
