East LA Mexican Independence Day Parade & Festival
The East LA Mexican Independence Day Parade is the oldest and largest Hispanic parade in the country.
The family-oriented event offers the opportunity to learn about many Mexican states' cultures, enjoy traditional food, listen to cultural music, appreciate beautiful traditional dances, and interact with many fun exhibitors.
2024's Grand Marshall is El Hijo de el Santo.
Participants include marching bands, equestrian units, folkloric groups, floats, and dignitaries, all celebrating Mexican Independence Day.
Parade steps off at 10am, with a 1.5 mile route starting at the intersection of Cesar Chavez Ave. and Mednik, traveling to Gage Ave.
The Festival runs from 11am to 5pm on Mednik between E Cesar Chavez and 1st. Attendees can expect Main Stage performances throughout the day, sampling and giveaways, arts & crafts, celebrity photo ops and autograph signing, and traditional food and music. There is a Lucha Libre show from 1pm to 3pm.
Parking is free at the Civic Center. Street parking may be available, but be sure to check signs for parking regulations. Another option is to take the Gold Line to the East LA Civic Center Station.
