Birding for Fun
- see all dates
You might be surprised to discover how many bird names you already know. But whether it’s five or 50, there’s always more to learn. Birding is both magical and grounding. You get to be outside and tune in to nature with your senses. Learning about the physical characteristics, variations, and behavior of birds can also help with identification, whether through binoculars or up close.
Identifying the unique songs of birds that live in the area helps locate and identify them. Enjoy a walk in early spring and take in the many buds beginning as nature springs back to life, make memories with your friends and family with this perfect intergenerational activity, and add to your bird knowledge. Different topics will be addressed at each of the three sessions; attend one, two, or all!
FREE, thanks to a generous grant from Con Edison.
The dates are as follows (register for each separately):
Saturday, March 11 – What is birdwatching? How to identify birds
Saturday, March 18 – Field Guides, Binoculars, Communication
Saturday, March 25 – Birdsong, Organizations, Further Resources
