Join the USS Hornet to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and the Hornet’s role in the recovery of the astronauts when they splashed back down on Earth!

Activities include a high school robotics contest, solar telescope viewings, space-themed exhibits, ASTRA outreach table, and NASA Ambassadors.

Families can learn about the most important historical achievement of the 20th century with the largest surviving artifact of the Apollo program and award-winning Apollo exhibit on board. Our collections include a SeaKing Helicopter, a Block 1 Apollo capsule, and a Mobile Quarantine Facility.

Keynote speaker is Harrison Schmitt, one of the last 2 men to walk on the Moon during Apollo 17! Schmitt was on the Apollo 17 mission and he is going to be on board during this event to give a presentation
