See Disney California Adventure Park Like a Local: Inside Tips for a Great Visit with Kids

Welcome to Disney California Adventure Park! Photo by Jean Kuo Lee

When you say Disney in LA, you're really talking about two parks: Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. They are right next to each other, and when most people think about Disney, they think about the original Disneyland Park. However, I recently enjoyed a full day at Disney California Adventure Park with my family and I have to say, this sometimes overlooked park is a blast with kids. With Pixar Pier, Grizzly Peak, Avengers Campus, and Cars Land, this may be blasphemy, but I find California Adventure Park easily as much fun as Disneyland!

Read on for tips on what to see and where to eat at Disney California Adventure Park. For more theme park fun for kids of all ages, from the newest of them all for toddlers—Sesame Place San Diego—to the most thrilling—Six Flags Magic Mountain—we've got the scoop on all of SoCal's favorite amusement parks in our SoCal Theme and Water Parks Guide.

Blueberries for Sal was one of my all-time favorite stories when I was little. I still love reading it to my kids today, and it is the inspiration behind the seasonal excitement I get when it's time to gather my own bucket and "kuplink kaplank kaplunk" berries for canning, topping pancakes and pies, and making delicious blueberry jam.

In the Philadelphia region, we have access to a number of wonderful pick-your-own farms. We've rounded up a list including some of the best for blueberry season. Or, if you want to make a day trip out of it, check out additional farms in nearby New Jersey, where the blueberry is the state fruit.

Be sure to browse our pick-your-own farm directory as well as our U-pick strawberry farms post, too!

What Differentiates a Montessori Daycare, Preschool, or Elementary from Traditional School

Guidepost is the largest Montessori network in the world, empowering and nurturing kids ages 0 to 14 for more than 7,000 families across the globe.

While “Montessori” probably conjures up thoughts of wooden toys and independent play, there’s a whole lot more to understand about the teaching method that’s used across many of New York City’s most popular private preschools and elementary schools. Yes, specially-designed materials and child-led activities are definitely part of the package, but there are many differentiators that set the Montessori style apart from a more traditional approach to education. With a focus on children’s individual interests and needs, the approach promotes hands-on, self-paced, collaborative learning, which tends to really resonate with kids and parents alike.

The teaching experts at Guidepost Montessori offered to provide their expertise and breakdown the features you’ll find in a tried-and-true Montessori school. With over 80 campuses across the United States and Asia–including five locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, plus virtual programs, Guidepost is the largest Montessori network in the world, empowering and nurturing kids ages 0 to 14 for more than 7,000 families across the globe.
