Santa Monica Conservancy docents turn the spotlight on Marion Davies—actress, philanthropist, famed party hostess, and mistress of media tycoon William Randolph Hearst—in honor of her birthday.

Festivities in the courtyard include live music by Natalie Jacob & The Vintage Quartet. Guests can learn social dances of the 1920’s and 30’s with James Zimmer & Cynthia Harper,and enjoy sleight of hand with the agile Tom Frank.

In attendance are Davies’ biographer Lara Gabrielle and Hollywood historian Marc Wanamaker, both of whom will be meeting guests at the historic Julia Morgan-designed Guest House.

The party runs from 1pm to 3pm.   

At 3pm,there is a screening of the 1923 silent film Little Old New York. Set in early 19th century New York, Davies plays a young woman who disguises herself as her brother to claim an inherited fortune.
