The moon is going into hiding again -  it should be a great show!

The lunar eclipse is viewable from pretty much anywhere in the Continental US (weather permitting), but the Griffith Observatory is a great place to watch from, with telescopes available for free viewing.  Both the Observatory and Griffith Park close, as usual, at 10pm.

The visible eclipse starts with moonrise at 7:41pm.   The total eclipse starts at 8:29, with a peak at 9:11.  (The total eclipse phase is when the moon appears "blood" red.) The eclipse is no longer total after 9:54, the entire event comes to a close at 10:55pm

Can't make it to Griffith Park? The Observatory is live broadcasting the eclipse .

Visibility of the lunar eclipse is weather permitting.
