SpaceX Demo-2 Launch
SpaceX launches its Crew Dragon capsule, carrying NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken to the International Space Station. The Demo-2 test flight marks the first time in nearly a decade that a crewed journey into space is lifting off from a launch pad in the US.
Note that the first launch attempt on May 27 was scrubbed for weather; the new launch date is May 30.
This launch is the first time a private spaceflight company has used its own rocket and spacecraft design to deliver humans into orbit.
The launch goes from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and is being livestreamed by NASA and SpaceX.
SCHEDULED LAUNCH TIME: 3:22pm Eastern (2:22pm Central, 12:22pm Pacific) Coverage is expected to begin up to 4 hours before launch.
PLEASE NOTE: Like all launches to space, liftoff could be delayed by factors such as weather or mechanical issues. If the first launch attempt on May 27 is scrubbed, the mission has backup dates planned for May 30, May 31, and June 1.
