Layer the Walls, Part II at Abrons Art Center
Sat Mar 1, 2025
4:30pm ET
Age: 9+
Price: $21 (plus fees)
In one Lower East Side tenement, 40 layers of wallpaper were found clinging to the walls – each piece applied by a new immigrant family. Using puppetry, masks, and live action, Layer the Walls tells the incredible stories held within each layer.
Layer the Walls, Part II: Mid-Century (1930-1970)
- A Chinese father swims across the Hudson River to save his family
- A Teen Holocaust survivor finds refuge in NYC
- Puerto Rican cousins become involved with the Young Lords' fight for healthcare justice
The performance runs for approximately 70 minutes. Families are invited to a talkback with members of the cast and creative team following the performance, as well as an interactive shadow puppetry demonstration.
