Sinterklaas Day at Historic New Bridge Landing
Start off the holiday season at Historic New Bridge Landing as the Bergen County Historical Society celebrates Sinterklaas Day. All three 18th century Jersey Dutch sandstone houses, including the historic 1752 Steuben House, are open for tours.
Be sure to stop by the Demarest House for a visit and a photo with Sinterklaas.
At 2 pm in the Campbell-Christie House, BCHS volunteer Ariel Woll gives a Hanukkah presentation and demonstrates how the menorah is lit and more about the history, traditions, and customs of the holiday.
Take a peek at the treasures in the gift shop for that unique holiday gift while you enjoy donuts, hot cider, and other seasonal treats.
Don't forget to visit the society's authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen where interpreters cook Dutch stroop wafers, Dutch puff pancakes, sugared almonds, candied fruit peels and other Dutch holiday goodies.
Activities for families include pinecone bird feeder and ornament making throughout the afternoon.
Ticket reservations for the 39th Annual Colonial Christmas Concerts featuring Linda Russell and Companie are on sale.
Free parking is available on site or take the train to the "New Bridge Landing" station on the Pascack Valley Line.
Dogs are permitted on site on leash but not in the houses.
For additional information visit the society's website www.bergencountyhistory.org, email: info@bergencountyhistory.org, or call 201-343-9492 and leave a message.
The event is subject to change.
