The Skirball Cultural Center reopens on Sunday, February 2.

Inspired by the traditions of Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees, the Skirball invites visitors back for a free community day, honoring trees and reclaiming community.

Roots and Renewal: Honoring the New Year of the Trees is a free day of gratitude, healing, learning, and community in recognition of the Jewish New Year of the Trees with artist-led talks, a curated Tu B’Shevat experience, food samples, guided campus walks, panel discussions, art making, and more.

Activities include:

  • Decorating and filling a container with spices and herbs 
  • Tu B'Shevat Experience: explore the ancient Jewish wisdom of the “Four Worlds” while observing and engaging the senses.
  • Making compost 
  • Creating and writing poe-tree on community craft tables with seed paper.
  • Panel Conversation: A-Ha! Moments in Art and Science 
  • Viewing a mystical (kabbalistic) display.
  • Guided walks and tours around the premises
