It's International Vulture Awareness Day! The LA Zoo celebrates these charismatic and often misunderstood birds with special activities and entertainment. Zoo visitors can discover more about the very important role carrion eaters play in food webs around the world, and learn how the Zoo is helping to save the iconic California condor and other endangered vultures.

Activities at the zoo include:

  • Education stations: “Birds and Beaks” and “California Conservation Station”
  • Keeper talks at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. 
  • Special presentations in the Angela Collier World of Birds Theater
    • World of Birds Show featuring Cape vultures at 12 p.m.
    • Vulture visits with keeper Q&A at 2:30 p.m.
  • Partner Expo featuring Friends of California Condors Wild and Free, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service California Condor Recovery Program, San Fernando Valley Audubon Society, and more.
