The Bob Baker Marionette Theater says it’s time for celebration, for pride and wonder; it’s time to say Hooray LA!
The people and places of the City of Angels come to puppet life in Hooray LA! First performed in 1981 for the Los Angeles Bicentennial and recently revived by the puppeteers, fabrication workshop, staff, and community collaborators, the production features hundreds of handcrafted marionettes inviting audiences into the history of LA, from the 1933 earthquake to the development of the LA freeways to the mountains of Griffith Park where one lone mountain lion looks for love… And so much more!
Hooray LA is Bob Baker’s masterpiece, an ode to his city and the last original show he ever created. This puppet presentation features Bob’s joyful creations alongside lovingly crafted, new additions that capture the heart of the city, including bear, trout, and mountain lion puppets, as well as 2026 updates that more accurately represent the history of Los Angeles.
There are 4 different types of seating available: regular theatre chairs, floor "criss cross applesauce" seating, the Puppet Parlor which is behind a 3 foot railing (and not suitable for smaller audience members), and wheel chair seating.
Special Shows:
ASL Interpreted: March 21 at 1:30pm (be sure to choose "orange" designated seats for best viewing)
Sensory Friendly: March 28 at 1:30pm (see website for options)
