The City of Costa Mesa's famous Scarecrow Festival is an action-packed, free event that includes a kids' costume parade, trick or treat stations, pumpkin decorating, and more.

In addition, fun and festive community-created scarecrows are on display for the annual Scarecrow Contest.

The day includes a performance by Kids Imagine Nation, face painting, stilt walkers, and games. DJ Eddie spins some family friendly tunes.

Those interested in submitting a scarecrow for the annual scarecrow contest can visit the website; online sign up open through October 7.

The weekend prior to the Scarecrow Festival, there is a free Scarecrow Soiree at the Norma Hertzog Community Center, where little ones can make their own miniature scarecrows, decorate pumpkins, and more while learning about the Scarecrow Festival's  history.
