CCPT Children's Theatre in the Park: Gideon and the Blundersnorp
- see all dates
Culver City Public Theatre's annual children's production in the park is performed on Saturdays and Sundays from July 13 to August 4. This year's production is Gideon and the Blundersnorp, a unique and inventive family musical which was a hit at the Hollywood Fringe Festival several years ago.
About the story: Gideon is a stableboy who yearns to be a Royal Cavalier. Alanna is a young viscountess who wants to be free. Thrown together by chance, the two must contend with bandits, a treacherous forest, and a giant monster that just wants to eat everyone. Underlying the fun is a positive message: aspiration is fueled by personal character, not social class.
Patrons are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic lunches. A small concessions stand offers beverages and light snacks. The park is located at the corner of Motor Avenue and Braddock Drive and has public restrooms, park benches, and walking trails.
Gideon and the Blundersnorp is an all-ages musical: accessible to younger audience members, but equally suitable for parents and other species of grownup.
