Animal Farm
- see all dates
A Noise Within presents a musical adaptation of George Orwell's novel Animal Farm, originally adapted for the stage by Britain's National Theatre. The book is a staple on many high school curricula, and ANW's production is an entertaining and thought-provoking staging of the well-known tale of an animal uprising on the farm.
The show is fresh and full of surprises whether you know the story or not, and the performances are all a treat to watch. The political message remains as pertinent today as when Orwell wrote it, with clear character journeys showing how power can corrupt. A family outing to see Animal Farm is bound to provoke interesting conversations on the way home.
Although this is a musical in which most of the characters are animals, it is not a show for small children; the political drama that unfolds at times involves scenes depicting violence and death. And the plot definitely requires an ability to understand some level of political subtlety. That said, this would be a great show to see as a family with middle or high school-aged kids.
Free parking is available directly behind the theater at the Sierra Madre Villa Metro parking structure at 149 N. Halstead Street.
School trips are available on select weekdays.
Masks are required while inside the theater. Check for current COVID requirements on the day of performance.
