Weekday Event Picks for NJ Kids: MLK Day, Nature Storytime, January 18-22

This week kicks off with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day-- a day off from school and a day to learn about peace and making a difference. Take part in activities that honor the day, such as Explore the Dream Through Art Workshop and many others on our calendar. It’s also a budget-friendly week, with no-cost events all around, including Pottery Barn Kids Story Time, Frozen Movie Night and Moovin’ and Groovin’ Thursdays. Northern NJ:
Explore the Dream Through Art Workshop (Maplewood)
Honor Martin Luther King Day with an art project focusing on peace, equality and friendship at Express Yourself Studios. Three sessions are available on Monday for ages 4 and up.

Southern NJ:
MLK Day Skate & Play (Westville)
Glide on over to Deptford Skating Center for a day of skating, character visits, inflatables, food and fun. Choose among sessions with Elsa, Olaf or Sponge Bob/Elmo.

Sing-Along Winter Puppet Show (Edgewater)
Little ones are invited to My Kinder Club for a lively puppet show, featuring Sam the Sea Lion, Oliver the Octopus, Freddy the Fish and more friends. Entrance fee includes open play.

Pottery Barn Kids Story Time (Short Hills, Hackensack, Princeton, Shrewsbury)
Stop by Pottery Barn Kids for a fun-filled, weekly story time right in the store. First-time visitors will receive a book club passport, and five timers will earn a special gift. FREE
