8th Annual Breukelen Country Fair
Bring the whole family for a day-long extravaganza of local growing, hands-on homesteading, and creativity that turns the traditional harvest festival on its ear and boasts an array of games, crafts, local food, music, demonstrations, and family-friendly workshops led by local partners.
Performances kick off with a marionette showing of Bessie’s Big Shot by City Parks Foundation’s PuppetMobile at 1:30 pm.
Enjoy singing, dancing and drumming performances our featured Protest Garden Project artists-in-residence: Kriyol Dance! Collective and Sirene Dantor of Fanmi Asoto.
Beginning at 2:30pm, kids 13 and under can meet and ride ponies Nutmeg and Cinnamon alongside James Parker of the Black Cowboys Association (limited tickets). Get your face painted, learn from one of our many local artists, and explore textile arts such as spinning, natural dyeing, embroidery, weaving, and sewing.
Spend the day outside on some of the last remaining farmland in NYC; take home farm-grown produce from the Wyckoff Farm, grab some free seeds at the seed swap, and learn about agriculture, honey bees, compost and growing your own food. Ongoing activities for kids and grown-ups include cider pressing, face painting, music, photo booth, scavenger hunts, races, crafts, games, and demos.
