Speech Milestones:
An 18-month-old should: 

  • use two-word combinations 
  • answer yes/no questions

A 2-year-old should: 

  • use short 3-4 word sentences
  • use P, B, M, T, and D sounds 
  • follow 2-step directions

A 3-year-old should:

  • use sentences with appropriate grammar 
  • use F, K, and G sounds 
  • answer who, what, and where questions

A 4-year-old should: 

  • use conversational language 
  • use L sound
