NSO Family Concert: This Is the Rope: A Story from the Great Migration
A little girl finds a rope under a tree in South Carolina one summer. Little does she know this rope will become a part of her family's history. This is the story of one family's journey during the Great Migration.
At the Kennedy Center, this world-premiere NSO Family Concert features Education Artist-in-Residence Jacqueline Woodson reading This Is the Rope onstage, a new score by Quinn Mason played by the National Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Kyle Dickson, and projected illustrations by Coretta Scott King Award-winner James Ransome.
Showtimes are 2pm & 4pm.
Sunday, April 2 at 2pm is a sensory-friendly performance.
Following the performance on Sunday, April 2 at 4pm audience members can ask questions and hear stories from the show’s artists and creative team.
Before each performance, a free Musical Playspace will be available for kids to try out the instruments they see onstage
