Second Sunday at SFMOMA in May happens to fall on Mother's Day, and the theme is Family! Come celebrate moms of all kinds with a card-making art project inspired by artworks from around the museum.

The book-pairing this month is Smoothed Over with Feeling: Poems for New Parents by Vanessa Hope Schneider & Carissa Potter Carlson.

It's a collection of poems and drawings that celebrate the strength, complex emotions, and ongoing creativity of new parents. A special reading by the author is at 1 p.m. in the Koret Education Center Multipurpose Room.
