There's a new kid-friendly museum on the block! CuriousCity, a pop-up children's museum, opens Sunday, March 31st in Peabody, and after an exclusive sneak peek just before opening day, we learned that this new addition to our region of world-class museums is worth a visit—and soon. For just three months, this children's museum will occupy the George Peabody House Museum & Peabody Leather Workers Museum in the downtown area, offering kids seven different exhibits that invite learning, creative play, and interactive fun. Here's a preview of the unique, imagination stoking exhibits you'll see at CuriousCity, as well as some helpful hints for taking the kids.

Spring is in full swing, and we couldn't be happier. That's because, in April, there is just so. much. to. do. From tasty crawfish and spring festivals to Easter celebrations, like breakfasts and photos with the Easter Bunny and egg hunts, there's no excuse to be bored this month.

There's Free Cone Day on April 9, where you can grab some delicious free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's and a fun Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit to take the kids to in The Woodlands. We on Long Island are blessed with four distinct seasons, and April, of course, begins the transition to warmer weather and outdoor activities. By the end of April's 30 days we will have experienced Easter Sunday, Passover, the return of leaves to our trees, and even baseball played on our Little League fields. Ever since my son could read, he's been a history buff. Our family tree is filled with brave men who have served our country, so military history has always been a subject close to his heart. We've loved exploring the city's National Parks and Monuments and learning about the storied military past of Governors Island together, but nothing has sparked his curiosity or inspired as many return visits as the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

A decommissioned Essex-class air craft carrier, the Intrepid is a floating museum docked in the Hudson River at Pier 86. It was commissioned in 1943 and served a varied history spanning from WWII to the space age. During WWII, it survived a torpedo strike and five kamikaze attacks. Later it was used in the Cold War, as a NASA recovery vessel in the 1960s and as a "special attack carrier" in Vietnam. Decommissioned in 1974, the Intrepid was saved from the scrapyard and converted into a museum in the early 80s. It was remodeled between 2006-08 and returned to Pier 86 as the museum we know today.
