Return of the Osprey at Breakwater Beach
Turtleback Farm hosts this Return of the Osprey volunteer event for families on Long Island that includes volunteerism, children's activities, and more. Activities include cleaning the beach, putting up an Osprey platform, and installing shorebird fencing at Breakwater Beach.
The Mattituck-Laurel Civic Association will be leading the beach clean up, with the Atlantic Marine Conservation Center providing pickers and buckets. The Peconic Bay Keeper will be offering a children's activity and information on how people can help the Osprey through their Alewife Project. The Group for the East End will be running an activity and offering information on their significant work documenting the population growth of the Osprey. North Fork Audubon will lead a hands-on children's activity and provide information on their work, and the Children's Garden will provide a children's craft.
Sandwiches will be provided. Volunteers should sign up through the Mattituck Park District.
