Take a look through the Air & Space Museum's telescopes while out exploring Washington, DC. Join Museum staff at Meridian Hill Park, at the top of the fountain near the Joan of Arc statue, and see the wonders of the night sky. Experienced staff will help visitors observe a variety of things, including planets, stars, and the Moon.
Accessibility: There is step-free access to the Joan of Arc statue area from park entrances along 15th Street. Written and touchable explanatory materials are available for learners of all types.
Details:
- Stargazing is free and open to the public; no tickets or reservations required.
- The event is weather-permitting and may be cancelled due to rain, clouds, and other poor visibility. For last-minute updates, call the Astronomy Education number at 202-633-2517.
- Stargazing activities take place on the paved walkway in the center of the park, near the Joan of Arc statue. The closest pedestrian entrance is at Belmont and 15th Street NW.
- Parking is available along the streets surrounding Meridian Hill Park; check the official signs for information about permitted parking times and payment options.
- Bring layers of warm clothing and wear comfortable shoes.
