Brigid's Day/ Candlemas at Historic New Bridge Landing
Come celebrate Brigid's Day and Candlemas with the Bergen County Historical Society at Historic New Bridge Landing. All three-18th century Jersey Dutch sandstone houses are open for tours with knowledgeable interpreters sharing stories about the lives of earlier Bergen County residents.
At 2:30 pm join entertainer Richard Stillman in the state historic 1752 Steuben House and listen to Irish storytelling and a musical program that includes step dancing, mandolin, banjo, and bagpipes.
New exhibits featuring artifacts from BCHS's collections are on display in the Steuben House including Seeing the Past Through a Different Light.
Take a peek at the treasures in the gift shop while you enjoy donuts and hot cider which are available for purchase inside the tavern.
Don't forget to visit the society's authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen where interpreters demonstrate the 18th century craft of candle making using authentic materials.
Activities for families including corn husk doll making are available throughout the afternoon.
Free parking available on site or take the train to the "New Bridge Landing" station on the Pascack Valley Line.
Dogs are permitted on site on a leash but not in the houses.
