National Night Out Events
All over LA, LAPD branches host National Night Out on the first Tuesday of August. Events vary, but all encourage kids to develop a familiarity and comfortability with law enforcement officers. Many of these celebrations include bounce houses, games, opportunities to get up close and personal with emergency response vehicles, and free food. And of course, law enforcement officers will be present to talk with community members.
Visit their website for detailed information. You may need to call your local LAPD branch for times and locations. Also, check the website for specific addresses. These events take place all over the city.
There are so many National Night Out events it's hard to list them all, but here are the ones we've found so far:
- West Hollywood: There is a block Party at the West Hollywood Gateway from 4-6pm. There is also a cookout from 5-8pm at the intersection of Norman and Harper.
- Venice Beach: There is a "Going Away Party for Neighborhood Crime and Drugs" at the Boys and Girls Club of Venice from 7-9pm.
- West LA: The police will host a "Walk Against Crime" at Stoner Park at 7pm.
- Van Nuys: Police will host an event at Los Angeles City College from 7-9pm.
- North Hollywood: Multiple potluck dinners- See website for more details.
- Newton: Live music and games for kids will be set up at the Newton Community Police Station along with free ice cream floats.
- Central LA: There are several open houses planned at the Chinatown Public Safety Association, The Kobon Service Center, and the San Fernando Building.
