During this 5-week class, youth will explore urban design by examining Chicago’s dynamic public parks and understanding how thoughtfully designed environments nurture a high quality of life, social connectivity, and community resilience.

Participants will work in teams and independently to sketch, plan, and create 2D designs of their ideal community parks. Field trips, skill building, career exposure, and a final showcase are all part of the program.

Curious about STEM careers? Girls are encouraged to bring their questions to help shape the conversation. During the festival, they'll hear about the unique challenges and successes from female professionals who pursued careers in architecture, engineering and design.
