Get an inside look into the exciting world of anime & manga art. Learn how to capture the fundamentals of facial features & anatomy within the manga, anime art tradition.

Students will design their own unique characters (human, animal or fantasy subjects) in the anime style and learn how to draw characters in action. Course includes lessons on figure drawing & proportion in one or more of the various styles: Shonen, Seinen, Shojo, Josei or Kodomomuke.

Students will create a character chart complete with color palette for skin/hair/eyes/clothing, as well as learn shading techniques in color for all manga pens. Demos will be provided in shading with manga markers & inking. The course will end with a critique on each student’s work. Returning students will be facilitated for & techniques polished.

Class is offered as single day drop-ins or sign up for multi-week full courses by selecting the start date from the registration calendar below. 

Classes are offered on Saturdays from 11:30am-1:30pm or Tuesdays from 4:00pm-6:00pm

Saturday full course offerings are SEP 4-25 (4 weeks), OCT 2- 30 (5 weeks), NOV 6-27 (4 weeks), and DEC 4-18 (3 weeks).

Tuesday full course offerings are SEP 14- OCT 26 (7 weeks) and NOV 9- DEC 28 (8 weeks)
