Arbor Day Weekend at Wave Hill
- see all dates
Wave Hill celebrates Arbor Day all weekend long with family walks, arts and crafts, and more outdoor activities, including a popular tree-climbing activitity that provides the best view of the grounds!
On Saturday, from 11am-3pm, kids are invited to don tree-climbing harnesses and hardhats and ascend into the canopy of an old sugar maple tree to get a bird’s-eye view of Wave Hill. Arborists from Almstead Tree, Shrub & Lawn Care are on hand to assist budding arborists, as well as answer questions about the big, old trees at Wave Hill. Ages 5 and older welcome with an adult.
On Sunday at 1pm, take a Family Tree Walk with an environmental educator and visit the biggest, oldest, and most unusual trees at Wave Hill. Appropriate for ages 6 and up and accompanying adults. Sign in on-site—space is limited. Severe weather cancels.
From 10am-1pm on Saturday and Sunday, with wax crayons and paper in hand, visit some of Wave Hill’s treasured trees and have a tactile experience making simple but rich bark rubbings in the Barking up a Wave Hill Tree family art project program.
