At this month’s Tea and Tales, English tea time meets adventure steeped in Bengali folklore. Award-winning author Sayantani DasGupta launches her newest book in the Kiranmala & the Kingdom Beyond series, reading from the most recent book in the series, The Chaos Curse (#3).

Child guests enjoy one-on-one time with the author as she discusses writing and answers questions. The child’s tiny tea includes finger sandwiches, two scones, a tiny cupcake, a fruit skewer, a cookie, and juice or milk. A children’s ticket also includes a $15 gift card to the children’s specialty bookstore Books of Wonder that can be used to purchase books at the restaurant or at either the 84th or 18th Street Books of Wonder locations.

*Adults have two ticket choices. A Chaperone ticket with food includes a place setting beside your child and a single adult portion of the tea setting (two sandwiches, two scones, and two tarts) added to the English tea for your child. The second option is a free RSVP ticket. Only one RSVP ticket is allowed in a party. This ticket does not include food and you may be seated away from your child and away from a table. You must have purchased a Tea & Tales child ticket to purchase either of these tickets.

About the book:

In DasGupta’s third book in the series, Kiranmala (who found out early on that she wasn’t a normal New Jersey tween but rather an Indian princess from another dimension). Kiranmala must leave the Kingdom Beyond and travel to her hometown of Parsippany to save Prince Lal, who has been spirited to the unlikeliest of places — a tree in the yard of her best-enemy-for-life. She also faces evil serpents (of course!), plus a frightening prophecy about her role in the coming conflict between good and evil. Most troubling of all, though, is the way reality all around her seems to waver and flicker at odd moments. Could it be that the Anti-Chaos Committee’s efforts are causing a dangerous disruption in the multiverse?
