Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Mundos Alternos: Art and Science Fiction in the Americas at Queens Museum, this day-long festival at Queens Public Library, Corona will explore science fiction through art making, performances, technology, comics and zine workshops, virtual reality demonstrations, and opportunities for locals to meet and interact with noted science fiction authors and practicing scientists.

The community festival will also extend outdoors to Corona Plaza at 40-04 National Street in Corona for ¡CORÓNATE! with live music, an immersive performance, hands-on activities, games, and storytelling. Attendees can become their own superhero or embark on a space exploration voyage guided by performance artists.

Family-friendly Schedule at Queens Library:
1-2pm
Story Time for Families (storytelling in Spanish and English)
Kids and families are invited to start the day by being transported into the worlds of space travel, friendly aliens, robots, and more.

3-5pm
Coronanauts Space Flight: Costume-making workshop led by Greg Corbino with Francisca Benitez, and Jessica Santos.
(workshop will be bilingual: Spanish and English)
Check-in to the Intergalactic Travel Agency and build your own Coronanaut costume. Participants will be invited aboard the first ever Intergalactic space flight from Corona. Participants take-off from Corona Library at 5pm and travel to Corona Plaza. There they will board an empanada-inspired spaceship and join the immersive Coronanauts Space Flight experience.

4-6pm
Latinx Sci-Fi Zine Workshop by Mujeristas Collective (workshop will be bilingual: Spanish and English) Using prepared zine templates and collage materials, participants are invited to make their own short story illustrating what their world would look like if they had the power to create an alternate reality.

Adaptation Battlebots: Join Science Friday and Skype a Scientist to build your own Franken-animal. What adaptations will help you create an unstoppable new animal fit for battle? Make your own paper puppet and find out, with help from local scientists, as you pit the new creatures in the ring.

2:30-3pm
Music Performance by Milagro Verde
This hardcore chicha band kicks off an afternoon of Latinx music and dance with the rhythms of Peru.

4:15-5pm
Music Performance by STEFA*
A vocal artist born, raised and currently living in Queens, STEFA* constructs densely layered vocal music. 

5:15-5:45pm
Coronanauts Space Flight: Immersive performance led by Greg Corbino with Francisca Benitez, Jessica Santos, and Alicia Gerstein. (performance will be bilingual: Spanish and English)
