This annual event celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and fosters literacy and awareness of the Civil Rights Movement among youth and their families in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. The event was started in 2011 and is run solely by volunteers, including local high school students and college students from Medgar Evers College and LIU Brooklyn.

This year's event features a storytime with Sharee Miller, the author and illustrator of Princess Hair and Don’t Touch My Hair! and a presentation from Anastasia Higginbotham, author of Not My Idea: A Book About Whiteness. The day also includes more fun activities, music performances, and arts and crafts for children, along with a complimentary lunch at 12:30pm.  All performances and activities are FREE and open to the public.
