Age: All ages
Price: Free
Location:
Ginjan Cafe

Hop on the Jingle Train – and ride your way from brass band to jazz, Gospel to reggae, and soul to salsa! Drawing on Harlem's rich music traditions, the Jingle Train is a trolley that runs from the historic home of African-American culture on 125th Street to the main corridor of El Barrio on 116th Street.

The trolley runs a loop from the 125th Street-Harlem Metro-North station to the Harlem Night Market at La Marqueta, with stops at local small businesses along the way. Musicians of various genres perform from the Jingle Train throughout the evening and into the night, rotating every thirty to sixty minutes – so you can ride for hours on end and experience multiple musical styles.

Free hand-held Jingle Taps and other percussion instruments courtesy of Rhythm Band Instruments are available for participants while supplies last so that you can play along!

You can catch the Jingle Train at several stops throughout the neighborhood:

  • Ginjan Cafe (NW corner of East 125th & Park, inside the historic Corn Exchange)
  • Jahlookova (51 East 125th b/t Park & Madison)
  • The Brownstone (24 East 125th b/t Madison & Fifth)
  • Uptown Veg (52 East 125th b/t Park & Madison)
  • Urban Garden Center (1640 Park at 116th)
  • Harlem Night Market at La Marqueta (Park b/t 115th & 116th).

HOW TO JOIN:

Just show up ready to sing, clap and dance along, no reservations required! The trolley is wheelchair-accessible and heated.
