The City Nature Challenge is a 4-day international BioBlitz competition that calls on citizen scientists of all ages and backgrounds to observe and submit pictures of wild plants, animals, and fungi using the free app iNaturalist, fostering a greater appreciation for the wildlife hidden in every city.

At the Trails Care stewardship event from 10am to 1pm, participants will be removing invasive species and mulching along the Pat Dolan Trail.

At the Wetland Discovery Hike from 1pm-2:30pm, the Urban Park Rangers will lead a fun and educational nature walk through the Willow Lake Preserve, a wild wetland ecosystem in the heart of Queens.

The meeting place for both events will be the Mauro Playground entrance to the Pat Dolan Trail on the east side of the park. If you would like to participate in the Challenge, please bring a device with the iNaturalist app installed.
