Hands-on History: Pet Alligators!
Sat Jul 15, 2023
1:00pm to 4:00pm ET
Age: 3+
Price: FREE
Rufus King was good friends with the sixth president of the United States John Quincy Adams, an antislavery advocate. Adams even visited King and stayed in the guest room. Celebrate Adams' birthday (July 11, 1767) by crafting your own pet alligator!
Adams was gifted an alligator by French aristocrat Marquis de Lafayette and, rumor has it, he kept the critter in the East Room bathtub of the White House.
