Join the Bergen County Historical Society as they celebrate Chwame Gischuch: Under the Shad Moon, The Lenape New Year at Historic New Bridge Landing.

At 2 pm in the Steuben House Primitve Technologist Steve Adams will give a talk on The Material Culture of Prehistory. Adams will demonstrate the use of stone tools and flint knapping as well as the working of plant fibers. The society's Needle to Cloth exhibit of BCHS girls' samplers and needlework will also be on display in the Steuben House as well as selections from BCHS's extensive Native American collection.

All 3 pm Jersey-Dutch sandstone houses are open for tours throughout the day. The Blackhorse Inn will also be open where visitors may purchase refreshments for an additional cost and visit the gift shop.

Tour the 1889 Swing Bridge weather permitting and check out live demonstrations of broom making and blacksmithing throughout the afternoon.

In the out-kitchen visitors can see shad and corn being prepared by BCHS interpreters.

Children can make a cornhusk doll to take home.
